The Appraisal Subcommittee (ASC) will host its second public hearing on appraisal bias from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. ET on May 19 at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) headquarters in Washington, DC., the ASC announced in a release. The hearing will focus on the appraisal regulatory system.
“This hearing will explore the appraisal regulatory system focusing on appraisal standards, appraiser qualification criteria and barriers to entry into the profession, appraisal practice and state regulation,” the ASC said in its release. “It is intended to better [understand] the current challenges and explore opportunities to improve the appraisal profession, while combatting bias and promoting fair appraisals for all.”
The following witnesses will share testimony during the hearing:
- Jonathan Miller, president and CEO, Miller Samuel Inc.
- Michelle Czekalski Bradley, Certified General appraiser, chair of the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB).
- Brad Swinney, chief appraiser, Farm Credit Bank of Texas, chair of the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB).
- Angela G. Jemmott, bureau chief, California Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers, representing the Association of Appraiser Regulatory Officials (AARO).
- Morgan Williams, general counsel, National Fair Housing Alliance.
