VA winds down Veterans Affairs Servicing Purchase program

On April 3, Valuation Review reported that House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Chairman Mike Bost (R-Ill.), and Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity Chairman Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-Wis.), released a joint statement about the phasing out of the Veterans Affairs Servicing Purchase (VASP) program. But as of May 1, VA rescinded its Home Retention Waterfall and stopped accepting VASP submissions.

ATTOM: Number of residential mortgages secured declined in Q1

Property data curator ATTOM released its first-quarter 2025 Residential Property Mortgage Origination Report, which showed that 1.4 million mortgages were secured by residential property (one to four units) during the first quarter of the year. That was a 14 percent decrease from the previous quarter, as the number of new loans continues to trend downward.
