Lance Coyle, MAI, SRA, of Dallas began his one-year term as president of the Appraisal Institute on Jan. 1. The Appraisal Institute is the nation’s largest professional association of real estate appraisers with nearly 22,000 professionals in almost 60 countries.

The Appraisal Institute’s other elected officers for 2015 are President-Elect Scott Robinson, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, of Salisbury, N.C.; Vice President Jim Amorin, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, of Austin, Texas; and Immediate Past President Ken Wilson, MAI, SRA, of Plano, Texas. Also serving on the Appraisal Institute’s Executive Committee, as a non-voting member, is Chief Executive Officer Frederick Grubbe, MBA, CAE.

In the coming year, the Appraisal Institute’s officers and board of directors will continue their work to implement the institute’s strategic initiatives that have the potential to fundamentally reshape the global valuation profession.

“It is a privilege to serve the Appraisal Institute as the organization continues its leadership in the valuation profession,” Coyle said. “I look forward to working with my fellow national officers and valuation experts to continue the great work of educating and advocating for valuation professionals around the world.”

Coyle was the organization’s president-elect in 2014 and its vice president in 2013; he will become immediate past president in 2016. He will serve in 2015 as chair of the Appraisal Institute’s Executive Committee and will chair the organization’s policy-setting board of directors.

Coyle has been involved in the real estate valuation profession for 30 years. He served as president of the North Texas Chapter of the Appraisal Institute in 2000 and was a member of the Region VIII Committee for multiple years. He was a member of the national board of directors from 2003 to 2005 and served as chair of Region VIII in 2005. Coyle served as chair of the Appraisal Institute’s Education Committee from 2009 to 2010, and until his election as vice president, was chair of AI’s Strategic Planning Committee. He also chaired the organization’s Finance Committee in 2013.

Robinson has been active in real property appraisal and consulting since 1987, when he joined Robinson Associates, a Salisbury, N.C., firm his father started in the mid-1960s. Robinson has been actively involved with the Appraisal Institute since joining as a candidate for the SRA designation in 1987, including a four-year term on the national board of directors and serving as chair of Region V. He has served in all offices for the North Carolina Chapter and has been active at the regional and national levels since 1991. Robinson has been chair of Residential Experience, chair of Residential Admissions and chair of the Admissions and Designations Qualifications Committee. He served as national vice president on the Executive Committee and chair of the national Finance Committee in 2014. He is a senior national screener for residential and general experience domestically and abroad, and has been trained and approved as a facilitator for the Capstone program.

Amorin, who served as national president in 2009, has been involved with the Appraisal Institute since receiving a MAI designation in 1992, followed by a SRA designation in 2003 and an AI-GRS designation in 2014. He has served on the Appraisal Institute’s board of directors, having completed a four-year term on the Executive Committee and having served as chair of several committees. He received the Appraisal Institute’s Bert Thorton President’s Award in 2012 for work related to the Capstone program as well as work on several project teams. In 2013, he was awarded the Appraisal Institute’s Y.T and Louise Lee Lum Award.

Wilson has been involved in the real estate valuation profession for more than 35 years. He joined a predecessor organization of the Appraisal Institute in the early 1980s. He served as president of the North Texas Chapter of the Appraisal Institute in 2001 and began a three-year term as chair of the chapter’s Education Committee in 1995, and was elected to the chapter board of directors the same year; he also served multiple years as a regional representative.
