Riley County, Kansas Assessor Greg McHenry assumed the office of president of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) on Jan. 1. McHenry is chair of the board of directors and presides at all meetings of the board and membership, IAAO announced in a release.

Outside of IAAO, McHenry serves as appraiser for the Riley County Appraiser’s Office in Manhattan, Kansas. Previously, he served as deputy county appraiser and business specialist. He has also served as county appraiser for the Clay County Appraiser’s Office.

McHenry was the IAAO president-elect in 2020, vice president in 2019 and was on the IAAO Board of Directors from 2015-2017. Additionally, he served as a member of the Governance Committee, Vision 2020 Committee, Conference Content Committee, Local Host Committee-Kansas City IAAO Conference, Volunteers Coordinator, and Hageman Trust Committee.

Joining McHenry on the IAAO Executive Committee for one-year terms in 2021 were L. Wade Patterson, former county assessor in Garfield County, Okla., as IAAO president-elect for 2021; and Patrick Alesandrini, Hillsborough County chief deputy property assessor Tampa, Fla., as IAAO vice-president for 2021.

New board members recently elected for three-year terms beginning Jan. 1 were Brian Gay, Valuation and Customer Relations manager; Timmins, Ontario (Canada); Marcy Martin, real property tax administrator, County of Maui, Kahului, Hawaii; and Terry Taylor, director of real estate residential assessment, Orange County, Fla.
