CoreLogic and The Columbia Institute (TCI) announced the completion of their first class from a new appraiser trainee program earlier this month.
The goal of TCI’s appraiser trainee program, CoreLogic announced in a press release, is to increase the number of qualified and tech-savvy appraisers in the U.S. TCI’s Appraiser Trainee program provides a solid foundation of knowledge with exposure to new technology, tools, software and soft skills that will increase the likelihood of success as a professional appraiser.
The trainee class has been designed from the ground up with one focus — the success of the appraiser. What differentiates TCI’s Appraiser Trainee class is the holistic approach it takes to education, which includes classroom instruction, field trips to building retailers, group projects and demonstrations. Trainees gain hands-on experience in appraising real estate with real world cases. A highlight of the training course was the trainee’s participation in a Habitat for Humanity building to assess a subject property from the inside out, the release said.
“We are excited to be able to shape the future appraiser,” TCI Managing Director Laura Kelly said in the release announcing the new trainee program. “We have developed a complete training program to ensure our appraisers learn about the most relevant tools and technologies and the customer service skills emphasizing the importance of providing an exceptional customer experience culminating in a group project to develop and present their first appraisal.
“We are extremely proud of this first class of trainees and look forward to the ongoing development of talent through TCI’s Appraiser Trainee Program,” Kelly added.
