The American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) recently announced the planned retirement of Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Brian Stockman. A task force has been appointed to oversee the search for Stockman’s replacement, according to an ASFMRA press release.
In addition to the task force, ASFMRA President Rick Hiatt said a partnership with Hedlin Ag, a national agribusiness executive search and consulting firm, has been formed to appoint Stockman’s successor.
“Brian has provided steady, strategic leadership to ASFMRA for nearly two decades,” ASFMRA President-elect Terry Kestner said in the release. “His contributions have been instrumental in strengthening the organization’s position within the agricultural and appraisal professions. We are grateful for his service and will ensure a thoughtful and successful transition.”
Stockman has served as executive vice president (EVP) and CEO since 2005. During his tenure, ASFMRA has expanded its national presence, enhanced its education and accreditation programs and modernized internal operations, the organization stated.
Stockman played a central role in several key initiatives, including governance reform, the development of the ASFMRA Education Center and the revitalization of the Society’s leadership development efforts. Throughout his time at ASFMRA, Stockman worked closely with members, volunteers and contractors across the country.
Known for his calm, steady leadership and strategic mindset, Stockman is widely respected for his commitment to member-driven service. Prior to joining ASFMRA, Stockman spent 10 years with the National Corn Growers Association, serving as vice president of marketing where he oversaw marketing, state relations, funding strategy and industry partnerships.
“It has been an honor to help lead ASFMRA, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together,” Stockman said. “I’ve been fortunate to work with dedicated volunteer leaders, instructors, developers, and staff. As I look ahead to this next chapter, I’m especially looking forward to more time with my family — particularly my grandchildren.”
ASFMRA expects to have a new EVP/CEO in place by or before October 1.
