Los Angeles County Assessor Jeffrey Prang announced a regional effort to recruit applicants for the Appraiser Trainee/Real Property program. The Appraiser Trainee program is a one-year program designed to prepare candidates for a career in property assessment with the Los Angeles County Office of the Assessor.
Home to more than 10 million residents, Los Angeles County is the most populous and one of the most diverse counties in the United States. The Office of the Assessor is responsible for valuing more than 2.6 million properties with a value of more than $1.2 trillion.
The training program teaches trainees the theory of appraisal and techniques of valuing real and personal property for assessment purposes. Part of the year-long training program is devoted to classroom study, while the balance of time is spent in the field training under the direction of experienced appraisers.
“In my office’s ongoing effort to provide excellent and efficient public service, we’re reaching out to the best and the brightest to serve the most diverse county in the United States,” Prang said. “Appraisers are on the front lines of our office and provide extremely critical services to their community.”
After successful completion of the one-year training program, trainees will be eligible to advance to the position of appraiser if certification requirements are met.
Interested candidates may apply on the Los Angeles County Office of the Assessor website until Wednesday, April 1, by 5 p.m PST.
