Global consulting firm J.S. Held recently elevated its appraisal component by hiring Joe Gulick, associate in claims (AIC)-certified to oversee appraisals, according to a press release.
With expertise developed on both sides of the desk, overseeing large loss claims for a multinational insurance carrier followed by providing appraisals, umpiring, and construction-based expert witness testimony, as well as large damage assessments for insurance carriers, law firms, self-insured businesses, and high-net-worth individuals for J.S. Held, Gulick is well suited to oversee a dynamic and diverse group of appraisals experts.
With two decades of construction experience, Gulick also brings a practical, real-world understanding of roofing, insurance restoration, mitigation, new residential construction, and land development, the company stated.
As a former Large Loss Claims manager, Gulick’s more than 12 years of insurance adjustment, claims management, and large loss management experience adds an important perspective to his engagements.
He provides consulting and expert services for clients throughout the country, and has experience with appraisals, mediations, and depositions and consults with insurers, law firms, and individuals requiring specialized damage assessment, as well as dispute resolution.
Jim Stanilious, senior executive vice president and Insurance Services Division lead, reflected on the decision to bring Gulick on board.
"Joe finds that rising from within the team provides a great foundation on which to manage this large and dynamic group of experts,” Stanilious said in the release. “Sharing further how Joe's diverse experience will serve him in his new role, He brings a unique perspective to the role because of his construction experience, his time in-house at a large insurance company, as an independent appraisal consultant, and litigation expert witness."
Gulick commented on his new assignment.
"The J.S. Held team of technical, scientific, financial, and advisory experts have the knowledge, training, licensure, and field experience required to help manage the appraisal process to a successful conclusion,” he said.
In his new role, Gulick will lead globally recognized experts in managing the appraisal process to successful conclusions, delivering specialized expertise in:
