The Appraisal Foundation (TAF) President Kelly Davids released information for appraisers in the organization’s July newsletter.
“Summer is the season of applications here at the Foundation. We just closed the nomination process for the SAVVY Award, honoring a woman advancing the appraisal profession, and there are currently four groups that you can apply to join to be involved in our work,” Davids wrote in the TTAF July newsletter. “The Appraisal Standards Board (ASB), Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB), Personal Property Resource Panel, and Business Valuation Resource Panel are all seeking qualified applicants right now to assist them in their work developing standards and qualifications or providing feedback from their discipline's perspective. The Foundation relies on a constant stream of talent on each of these groups to carry out our congressionally authorized mission to develop standards and qualifications of excellence and to uphold public trust in the appraisal profession. If you are interested in applying, scroll down for details.”
Davids also wrote in the newsletter that applying and becoming a member of one of our boards, councils or panels isn't the only way to be involved. In fact, she stated, one of the best ways to get involved is simply to attend one of our virtual or in person public meetings.
“These are fantastic opportunities to see the work of our boards up close and directly interact with our board members. These interactions drive all of the work our boards do so participation like this is essential,” the TAF president said. “Another way to get involved right now is to comment on the AQB's Concept Paper exploring the college degree requirement, which was issued with accompanying reference material. The deadline for comments is coming up at the end of this month, and your feedback is critical to the AQB's decision making process as they consider the next steps. Our work wouldn't be possible without your involvement.
“Appraisers are called upon to develop fair, objective, unbiased opinions of value and this work product then underpins the biggest sector of our nation's economy,” Davids added.
