Accurity Valuation announced the appointment of Brent Jones as the company’s new managing director of regulatory compliance.
Accurity offers a broad spectrum of services for both residential and commercial properties, including appraisals for loan origination, forensic and valuation fraud reviews, litigation support, statistical analysis, and collateral valuation reviews. Prior to joining Accurity, Jones was a Fannie Mae senior analyst for the Western U.S. working in the quality control department, and had members of his team performing repurchase triage work. Before that, Jones worked as an appraiser for more than two decades.
Jones saw the inner workings of Collateral Underwriter (CU) as it was being developed during his five years with Fannie, something that will be an asset to Accurity as Jones transitions to his new role.
“Brent’s 25 years of appraisal experience, as well as his last five years with Fannie Mae, brings an inside perspective to the rollout of Fannie Mae’s Collateral Underwriter,” Accurity Chief Appraiser Tom Munizzo said.
Jones is confident that CU will be a benefit to both lenders and appraisers because of his past experiences with the appraisal review tool and relationships at Fannie.
“Working firsthand with our analysts as they sorted out the good from the bad was enlightening and challenging,” Jones said. “The checks and balances Fannie has in place regarding CU, and the quality of the analysts [Fannie had working on the project], should make lenders and appraisers rest much easier.
“I am excited to combine Accurity’s extensive experience in the litigation arena with my experience as a senior analyst for Fannie Mae,” Jones said. “With front-end appraisal quality control tools being implemented by the GSEs, appraisal quality is going to become paramount, and we have the answer.”
