Metro-West Appraisal Co., the largest independent appraisal firm in the nation, has announced the hiring of a new chief real estate appraiser.
Greg Stephens has been appointed chief real estate appraiser for Metro-West; he is also the senior vice president of appraisal operations and compliance for the company.
Stephens’ career history includes owning and managing a five-office regional appraisal firm for over 20 years. Prior to that, he spent 10 years in financial institution valuation quality control and governance. Furthermore, Stephens has conducted qualifying and continuing education seminars around the country for 20 years.
Additionally, Stephens has been engaged in national appraisal organization leadership for over 30 years, most recently being named the 2013 president of the Appraisal Institute’s North Texas Chapter. He also has held board and officer positions with the Society of Real Estate Appraisers and the American Society of Appraisers.
In addition to earning his new title with Metro-West, Stephens was also the winner of the 2013 Valuation Visionary Award, an honor that recognizes the individual who demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation and professionalism in the valuation industry in the past year.
Effective immediately, Stephens will take on the responsibilities of chief appraiser, which include upholding high quality standards, staff appraiser development and ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements as they relate to real estate valuations.
“Greg’s commitment to the profession is matched by his extensive knowledge and experience navigating the complexities of appraisal regulations and standards,” said Brandon Boudreau, chief operating officer of Metro-West.
“In addition, Greg will continue to lend valuable experience as we expand our residential real estate appraisal offerings and build on our industry-leading services, as he has since he first joined our company,” Boudreau continued.
Mike Lund, who previously held the position of chief appraiser, has been promoted to director of training and will oversee the growth of Metro-West’s training and recruiting programs.
