The Bastrop Central Appraisal District’s board in Texas approved hiring Faun Cullens, the district’s deputy chief of appraisal services, as its new chief appraiser effective Aug. 1, according to a report in the Austin American Statesman.
Richard Petree has served as interim chief appraiser since January 2016, when the board hired him to lead the district while it searched for a new chief appraiser after it fired Mark Boehnke in October 2015.
Board members did not publicly say why they fired Boehnke other than they chose to go in a new direction, the article said.
Cullens holds a certified general appraiser license in Texas as well as a registered professional appraiser license. She began her career in Kansas working in the reappraisal process in Dodge City, according to the Bastrop Central Appraisal District. She worked in other counties in Kansas until 1997. She then worked for five years as a fee appraiser in Colorado before being elected as assessor for Cheyenne County, where she remained until December 2013.
