The Appraisal Foundation (TAF) President David Bunton announced the organization’s new board members in a TAF newsletter.
Bunton noted that fall is always a time for change at TAF, and he is excited to welcome new board members, while at the same time saying goodbye to those who finished their terms.
“We are so appreciative of the appraisers across the country who devote their time to serving on our boards. Over the years, these board members have helped us build public trust in the appraisal profession and set up our industry for success long into the future,” Bunton wrote. “Past board members have found this service to be incredibly rewarding. Steve Elliott shared that his over eight years of active service on The Appraisal Foundation's boards were the most important of his 47-year career.
“Being able to be at the forefront of an ever-changing, challenging and evolving profession and being able to contribute in some small way as a member of The Appraisal Foundation, in any capacity, is something I think every appraiser should strive to do,” Bunton added.
Former Chair of the Board of Trustees Elizabeth von Habsburg also shared with Bunton how important her time on the board was.
“I was surrounded by the ‘best in class’ of professionals in all areas of the appraisal industry, from across the country, and not only absorbed enormous quantities of invaluable information about the other areas of the profession, but enjoyed countless hours of camaraderie with this extraordinary group, and saw the direct effect we could have on raising the profile and professionalism of this profession,” von Habsburg said.
Bunton said it is always rewarding for him to hear how serving on one of TAF’s boards has shaped an appraiser’s career, and he is glad that TAF can continue to offer this opportunity to appraisers across the specializations of the profession.
“It is critical that we continue to have folks representing each of the areas of appraisal that we write standards for: real property, personal property and business valuation,” Bunton said.
“As is so often the case, we had a highly qualified set of applicants this year hoping to join our boards, and our board members had some tough decisions to make,” he added. “We are honored to have Leigh Lester of Long Beach, Calif. and Bob Morrison of Orlando, Fla. joining the board of trustees. Scott Robinson of Salisbury, N.C., Craig Morley of St. George, Utah and Riley Busenlener of New Orleans, La., will be joining the ASB (Appraisal Standards Board) with Byron Miller of Minneapolis, Minn. joining the AQB (Appraiser Qualifications Board). We look forward to getting to work.”
