October Research has selected two very prominent figures to deliver the keynote addresses at the 2012 National Settlement Services and Compliance Summit, to be held in Cleveland, Ohio, June 12-13 at the downtown Cleveland Marriott at Key Center.
Presenting on the state of the housing market on June 12 at 8:30 a.m., Mark Sniderman, executive vice president and chief policy officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, will provide an exclusive look at the current housing market and will address the dramatic regulatory sea change the industry is experiencing.
“The housing markets play a vital role in our economy,” Sniderman said. “The housing sector provides millions of jobs. Many people regard their homes as the center of their lives as well as their major form of wealth. The housing collapse has had a profound effect on the lives of countless individuals, families and communities. It has also profoundly affected housing finance and slowed the speed of our economic recovery. The recovery of the housing sector remains a work in progress.”
Sniderman is responsible for guiding the Federal Reserve Bank’s economic research and community development efforts and began his career at the Fed as an economist in the research department. He assumed his current position in 2007.
On June 13 at 8:30 a.m., Summit participants will be treated to a unique and uplifting presentation by keynoter Doug Smith, former chairman and chief executive officer of Best Brands Corp. Smith, a prominent leader and expert on organizational effectiveness, will deliver an upbeat, interesting keynote address on the secret to success, focusing on a skill set that will bolster your business. Smith will reveal what it truly means to achieve the kind of happiness that sustains us in times of adversity and will discuss how the state of happiness drives us to greater success.
“Everyone wants to be happy and for good reason,” Smith said. “The happiest among us do better by almost every conceivable measure, including success in their careers. But the kind of happiness that sustains us requires skill. In this presentation, I will define what it really means to be happy and outline the skills required to achieve it.”
Through his teaching, writing and advising, Smith’s mission is to help others reach their ultimate goals through a unique skill set that encompasses more than the traditional business and managerial techniques. During the past 15 years, he has served as chief executive officer of Kraft General Foods Canada, chairman and chief executive officer of Borden Foods Corp. and most recently as chairman and chief executive officer of Best Brands Corp. Smith is an expert in the skill of dealing with setbacks in life and works with individuals who are eager to learn and enhance their leadership skills.
For the eighth consecutive year, Summit participants will gather at the premier destination for title and settlement services leaders and top real estate professionals for extensive networking and learning. Produced by October Research, the 2012 Summit is offering an impressive lineup of nearly 40 speakers, the top industry-related topics, and unmatched networking and business development opportunities.
