Idaho’s Canyon County has a new assessor who previously served as chief appraiser. Brian Stender was sworn in during a ceremony, according to a county news release.
Highly recommended by outgoing assessor Gene Kuehn in his retirement announcement, Stender was formerly the county’s chief appraisal supervisor. In a unanimous recommendation, the Canyon County Republican Central Committee provided Stender’s name to the county commissioners who appointed him to the position, according to the release.
“Gene’s full endorsement and recommendation of Brian as his replacement speaks volumes about Brian’s knowledge and ability to lead to the Assessor’s Office,” Commissioner Steve Rule said in the release. “In addition to that, his decade of experience working with the citizens of Canyon County will no doubt make for a smooth transition.”
The Canyon County Assessor’s Office determines the market value of property. In 2007 as the rural appraisal supervisor, tender served as the chief deputy appraiser in Washington County.
“I am excited and ready to lead the Assessor’s Office into the future,” Stender said.
