Polk County (Iowa) Assessor Randy J. Ripperger has become president of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). Ripperger was sworn in during ceremonies at the IAAO’s 82nd Annual International Conference on Assessment Administration in Tampa, Fla., and assumed the office on Jan. 1, 2017, according to a press release.
As president, Ripperger is chair of the Executive Board and presides at all meetings. Ripperger previously served as IAAO president-elect in 2016, vice-president in 2015 and on the Executive Board from 2011 to 2013.
He also served as chair of the IAAO Education Subcommittee in 2014; chair of the Professional Designations Subcommittee in 2008 and 2009; chair of the Audit Committee in 2012; chair of the Grading Committee since 2001; and on the Budget Committee in 2013 and 2015 and a member of the Iowa State Association of Assessors.
In addition, elections for IAAO’s 2017 Executive Board were recently certified and Dorothy A. Jacks, AAS, was elected president-elect and Timothy L. Boncoskey, was elected vice-president. Elected as new members of the Executive Board for three-year terms were Ryan A. Hatch (Region 1);Virginia R. “Ginny” Whipple, AAS (Region 2); and Daniel R. Cypert, RES (Region 3).
Jacks is the property appraiser for Palm Beach County, Fla.; Boncoskey is chief deputy assessor for Maricopa County, Ariz.; Hatch is appraisal manager, Washington County (Utah) Assessor's Office; Whipple is a real property facilitator for Bartholomew County, Ind.; and Cypert is division administrator - Ratio Studies, Assessment Coordination Department, for the Arkansas Assessment Coordination Department.
