The Appraisal Institute, the nation’s largest professional association of real estate appraisers, announced the recognition of three individuals as a “Volunteer of Distinction” for March.
The individuals honored are Alexandra Meade, MAI, of Region III (Chicago Chapter); Mark R. Rattermann, MAI, SRA, of Region V (Hoosier State Chapter); and Craig Steinley, SRA, AI-RRS, of Region II (Wyoming and Western South Dakota Chapter).
Meade has served on the board of directors of the Chicago Chapter since 2011. She also served as the chapter’s public relations chair from 2009 to 2012. She created the Chicago Chapter’s newsletter, planned numerous functions for associates and candidates regarding designations and planned several chapter social events. Meade was a participant in the Leadership Development Advisory Council conference from 2009 to 2011. She joined the Appraisal Institute in 2006 and received her MAI designation in 2011.
Rattermann is the government relations chair for the Hoosier State Chapter; he previously served as education chair (2007 to 2011) and regional representative (2009 to 2010). Rattermann wrote and taught many Appraisal Institute educational offerings, and is the author of eight books and numerous articles on real estate topics. He was appointed by Indiana Gov. Mike Pence to serve on the state’s Appraiser’s Board, and has been elected to the City Council of Carmel, Ind. He joined AI in 1979, and received his SRA designation in 1982 and MAI designation in 1990.
Steinley has been a member of the Appraisal Institute’s national board of directors since 2014, and has served on AI’s Professional Standards and Guidance Committee since 2013. Steinley also is an approved AI instructor. He was president of the Wyoming and Western South Dakota Chapter’s board of directors from 2012 to 2013. Steinley is a registered lobbyist for the state of Wyoming on behalf of the Appraisal Institute and all Wyoming appraisers. He received his SRA designation in 2009 and his AI-RRS designation in 2014.
Appraisal Institute Designated members, Candidates for Designation, Practicing Affiliates and Affiliates may nominate such individuals by submitting the nomination form to their chapter’s executive director or president. Each region’s honorees then are chosen by their regional executive director, in conjunction with the region’s chair and vice chair.
