Mortgage Network, Inc., one of the largest, privately held independent mortgage companies in the eastern U.S. region, announced that Clint Hammond, branch manager of its Columbia, South Carolina office, has been appointed to the South Carolina Real Estate Appraisers Board for a three-year term by Governor Henry McMaster, the company announced in a press release.
Hammond will fill the seat on the seven-member board reserved for a mortgage lender. He will serve a three-year term ending May 31, 2020. The board regulates the real estate appraisal industry in the state to protect the public's interest, including determining the standards and qualifications for the issuance of permits, licenses and certifications for appraisers and recommending changes in legislation and regulations, the release said.
"I'm honored to have even been considered for the position and even more so to have been nominated and confirmed to serve," Hammond said. "I hope to have some say over how appraisers conduct themselves in the business and help create some consistency in how they value property that protects borrowers but at the same time doesn't hinder growth in the housing market."
A certified mortgage planning specialist (CMPS), Hammond has been with Mortgage Network for over 13 years, during which time he has helped hundreds of residents of South Carolina with their mortgage and refinancing needs.
"Public service is part of what we do at Mortgage Network. We take a keen interest in making the business better, which only serves to help our customers," Mortgage Network Executive Vice President Brian Koss said. "We're proud of Clint for earning this appointment. It reflects well on our entire company and all of our team members."
