Forsythe Appraisals LLC, an independent provider of residential real estate appraisals, announced that Alan Hummel, senior vice president and chief appraiser at Forsythe, has accepted an invitation to serve as a representative member on the Appraisal Subcommittee Advisory Committee for Development of Regulations (ASCAC).
The ASCAC’s primary objective is to provide independent advice and recommendations to the Appraisal Subcommittee regarding the development of industry regulations from the prospective of a variety of industry constituencies, including appraisers, lenders, consumer advocates, real estate agents and government agencies.
The committee consists of 17 members representing various elements of the real estate financial sector, but only three of the members are appointed as advocates from the appraisal profession. The committee will have significant input in the development of federal regulations as they pertain to the operations of state appraisal and AMC regulatory boards.
Hummel said he is honored by his inclusion and will take advantage of the opportunity to advocate regulations on behalf of his profession.
“I’ve spent my entire career, nearly three decades now, doing everything possible to promote the appraisal profession and push it forward in a positive direction,” Hummel said. “For the next two years, I’m honored to represent appraisers as a member of this committee, where I’ll have the unique opportunity to ensure that their viewpoints and best interests are at the forefront as the ASC develops its regulations, policies and enforcement protocols.”
As Forsythe’s chief appraiser, Hummel spearheads quality assurance, new appraiser mentoring, continuing education and appraiser efficiency and technology initiatives. Hummel has spent three decades in the profession and has served as past national president of the Appraisal Institute as well as on boards of the Appraisal Foundation. He has testified before the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives on mortgage fraud and appraisal issues.
