Experience matters, and there will be plenty of it on display at the 2017 National Settlement Services Summit (NS3) in San Antonio June 7-9.
One of the most anticipated sessions will be the lender executive panel, which features three of the most prominent figures in the industry.
Colonial Savings, F.A. President and Mortgage Bankers Association chairman-elect David Motley will be joined by former Ginnie Mae President and longtime financial services executive Joseph Murin on stage. Williston Financial Group Chairman and CEO Patrick Stone will moderate the panel, helping bridge the relationships between lenders and title agents and discussing the relationships that have grown between the parties, particularly since the implementation of TRID.
The trio will discuss the future of the housing market and other top-level insights on the work being done in the real estate industry today.
Motley will be making his first appearance on stage in the 13-year history of NS3, but Murin and Stone are no stranger to NS3. Murin was the keynote speaker at both the 2008 NS3 event in Cleveland – while he was still president at Ginnie Mae – and the 2009 Cleveland event, when he had left Ginnie Mae to become co-founder of the Collingwood Group.
Stone has been a fixture at NS3 over the years, and will be on stage again in 2017 as a member of the underwriter panel that includes representatives from First American, Old Republic and Westcor.
Another session featuring experienced experts will be a vendor management session titled “BFFs: You and your lender.” Wells Fargo Home Lending Vice President, Business Liaison Manager Kate Steineman returns to the stage at NS3, along with First American Title Insurance Co. Senior Underwriting Counsel, VP Corporate Underwriting Ruth Dillingham.
The pair will discuss vendor management compliance in today’s world. The topic has gained importance over the years, as lenders have been under more regulatory scrutiny to watch over their third-party vendors. At the 2016 NS3 in Charlotte, N.C., the agenda featured a half-day of Lender Oversight PACE Lap sessions that addressed various parts of certifications, standards, and a lender perspective provided by Steineman and a representative of the Bank of North Carolina.
This year, Steineman and Dillingham will discuss the details of title agents and lenders working together. They will delve into what is working in vendor management today, what isn’t working, and what pain points still exist within the process.
Lender experts will be speaking in other sessions throughout NS3.
A trio of lenders will open the conference by sharing their insights on eClosings today. That panel will include Mid America Mortgage President and CEO Jeffrey Bode, Wells Fargo Home Lending Vice President Strategy and Financial Reform Penny Reed, and North State Bank Mortgage President Ken Sykes.
Also, Brian Webster, SVP strategic planning partner at Wells Fargo Home Lending, will be among a panel discussing the creation of policies and procedures at companies and the ongoing monitoring and compliance required.
