San Jacinto County Appraisal District Chief Appraiser Kelly Foxworth has resigned, prompting Deputy Chief Appraiser Sherri Schell to be appointed as interim chief appraiser.
Foxworth turned in her resignation June 24. The Appraisal District addressed the issue in a special meeting three days later, where they appointed Schell.
“She’s (Schell) worked in our district for four years,” Appraisal District Board Chairman Susan Bailes told the Eastex Advocate. “We appointed her for 120 days.”
This appointment is not permanent, with Bailes saying the appraisal district plans to focus on other issues during Schell’s interim period.
“During that time we expect to do some internal audits,” Bailes said. “The Appraisal District also hopes to hire someone to perform an external audit of operations during this time.”
There was no reason given for Foxworth’s resignation and no details of her future plans.
