Greenfield Advisors named Dr. Alon Bassok as principal data scientist, and he joins the firm as it extends its expertise into new industries and markets, the company announced in a release.
Bassok comes to Greenfield from the Washington State Transportation Center, where he led development of models to increase the efficiency of transportation within Seattle and King County. Prior to that he was at the University of Washington and the Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies where he modernized the center’s data storage, curation and analytical tools, the company said.
As the principal data scientist at Greenfield, Bassok will lead the Labs@Greenfield in developing and compiling large amounts of information into a usable format for researchers, statisticians and analysts inside and outside of the company.
“Accurate and up-to-date data is at the heart of the real estate industry when it comes to compelling and useful research,” Dr. Clifford Lipscomb, Greenfield’s vice chairman and co-managing director, said in the release. “Dr. Bassok brings years of experience to our analytical team, and we’re looking forward to continue to create bespoke products that will help our clients gain insight into their business decisions in a quickly changing marketplace.”
Bassok also will continue to drive development of Greenfield’s automated valuation models (AVMs).
“Information is partly about speed, and we want our clients to have the information they need in as short a time as possible,” Lipscomb said. “Dr. Bassok brings a high level of expertise to our team that will help us build new ways to disseminate data and analysis to clients all over the world.”
