Wednesday, May 30, 2012

The Appraisal Standards Board has issued the First Exposure Draft of proposed changes for the 2014-2015 edition of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.

This exposure draft includes a proposed retirement of Standards 4 and 5, including planned edits to the conduct section of the Ethics Rules. The draft has also made revisions to the definitions of “assignment results,”  “report,” “scope of work” and “scope of report.”  In addition, the Record Keeping Rule has been modified, along with the Scope of Work Acceptability section of the Scope of Work Rule and sections included in the Competency Rule. Lastly, the draft focuses on changes in the report options, including separate proposals for two report options and for a single report option, and revisions to the preamble- When Do USPAP Rules and Standards Apply?

To bring up discussions about the draft, the ASB will be hosting a public meeting on July 13, 2012. The meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will be located at Embassy Suites Denver Downtown Convention Center, 1420 Stout St., Denver, Colo.

Embassy Suites is open for reservations by contacting them directly at 720-587-0957. Please note that The Appraisal Foundation no longer reserves “room blocks” for meeting attendees. Therefore, meeting attendees are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements at the best available rates.

For additional information on the First Exposure Draft or the public meeting, visit the Appraisal Foundation website. Written comments on the draft are requested by July 6. Send comments to ASBComments@appraisalfoundation.org.
