The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) joint 2017 Advanced Business Valuation and International Appraisers Conferences, to be held October 7-10 in Houston, Texas, will go on as planned in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, ASA announced on its website.
ASA is pleased to report the greater downtown Houston area was miraculously spared the brunt of Hurricane Harvey. The conference’s venue, the Hilton Americas-Houston hotel, sustained no damage and is open and fully operational, the ASA said.
Air travel and public transportation into and around the city has resumed. Professional sporting events, including the Astros and Texans, are on schedule. Local businesses and restaurants have reopened and are ready to welcome our group next weekend.
“ASA is steadfast in our commitment to Houston”, ASA International President Sharon A. Desfor said in the release. “One of the best things our organization can do is to support its economic wellbeing and that of all the local businesses and their employees.
“Additionally, to show our support for the areas that were less fortunate, ASA has made donations to four local charities, including: The Houston Food Bank, The Austin Disaster Relief Network, The Texas Diaper Bank and the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County,” Desfor added.
Registrations, hotel reservations and inquiries from ASA members around the world are ongoing, serving as a testament to the importance and value the joint conferences offer as the valuation profession’s single most important event of the year.
