The Appraisal Institute and its Canadian counterpart, the Appraisal Institute of Canada, announced a joint conference that will be held in Ottawa, Ontario, in 2017, hosting hundreds of members as well as valuation partners. The 2017 International Valuation Conference will be one of the largest networking and professional development opportunities within the valuation industry, the groups announced.
The event, June 8-11, 2017 will feature speakers, educational sessions, exhibits, an awards reception, a gala dinner, networking and opportunities for exploring Canada's capital city.
“We are proud to bring our members and members of the Appraisal Institute together to Ottawa during Canada’s 150thanniversary,” 2016-17 Appraisal Institute of Canada President Dan Brewer said in a press release announcing the joint conference. “As the real estate industry continues to expand into global markets, so too must the valuation industry. As North America’s valuation leaders, AIC and AI believe that this event will enhance our members’ understanding of international markets, as well build on our mutual understanding of valuation issues domestically. The 2017 International Valuation Conference will be a tremendous opportunity to network and learn from leading experts in the real estate industry.”
“It’s exciting to partner with our colleagues in Canada on such an important event,” 2016 Appraisal Institute President Scott Robinson said. “We’re thrilled to be part of what we're sure will be a terrific gathering that will greatly benefit attendees.”
AIC has hosted its annual conference for more than four decades. Previous events have been held in Calgary, Halifax and Kelowna, among others, attracting nearly 400 attendees annually and featuring keynote speakers such as the current host of Canada’s “Amazing Race,” Jon Montgomery, former Canadian Football League Commissioner Mark Cohon and David Chilton from CBC’s “Dragon’s Den.” The 2016 event was held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, June 8-11.
AI has hosted its annual conference in its current form since 2011. It has held the event in Las Vegas; San Diego; Indianapolis; Austin, Texas; and Dallas, attracting nearly 500 attendees a year and featuring renowned keynote speakers such as former astronaut Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon, and Vietnam-era prisoner of war Charles Plumb. The 2016 conference will be held in Charlotte, N.C., July 25-27.
