Metro-West Appraisal Co., LLC reached a settlement in the company’s civil complaint in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona against Sun Point Appraisals, Inc. and its’ principal, Paul Johnson, Metro-West announced in a press release.
“We’re happy to have reached a point of finality and hope that cases such as this help to turn the tide against dishonest activity against not only our national network of staff appraisers, but those of our peers as well,” Metro-West Appraisal Co. Chief Operating Officer Brandon Boudreau said in the release.
In the complaint, Metro-West asserted Sun Point interfered with an employment contract between Metro-West and a staff appraiser who was under contract with the company, alleging various claims of action, interference and misappropriation against Sun Point, the release said.
American Family Mutual Insurance Co., on behalf of Sun Point, paid Metro-West $67,500 to release Sun Point from those claims. Upon Metro-West’s receipt of the settlement payment, the parties jointly filed a stipulation to dismiss with prejudice for the purpose of dismissing the lawsuit in its entirety.
