For those concerned that valuation practices must provide reasonably consistent and supportable fair value conclusions, and want to help issue guidance on critical issues such as customer-related assets, measurement and applications of market participant acquisition premiums or contingent consideration, The Appraisal Foundation (TAF) is looking for you to serve on The Business Valuation Resource Panel (BVRP), TAF said.
The deadline for receiving applications is Oct. 1
The mission of the BVRP is to provide specialized expertise to TAF Board of Trustees and its committees, the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB), the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB), to ensure public trust, and to promote professionalism in the business valuation profession, TAF stated.
The purpose of the BVRP is to oversee the development of Business Valuation advisories, provide input on exposure drafts and offer insight on emerging issues or other matters of like significance to the Board of Trustees, ASB or AQB pertaining to the Business Valuation discipline. The panel was established to assemble representatives from diverse backgrounds within the discipline of valuation, so that the Foundation’s Boards:
- Have an additional means for communication with representatives of the discipline; and
- Benefit from information, advice and recommendations developed by the resource panel on issues relevant to the discipline.
Service on the panel is voluntary; panelists will not be compensated for their time, or their travel expenses to any Foundation or panel events. However, you will have a hand in shaping the guidance that will impact the future of business valuation.
The panelists will serve staggered terms commencing Jan. 1, 2020 for up to three years. Re‐appointments thereafter will be made on annual basis as needed. Currently, there are five vacancies on the BVRP.
Suggested qualifications for this position include:
- Experience in business valuation or users of business valuation services;
- Demonstrated experience in valuation services; and
- Prior service on professional boards, committee task forces or other such bodies.
