The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) will conduct free appraisal training sessions in Atlanta on Aug. 12 and 15, and Fort Worth on Aug. 14. These training sessions are intended primarily for appraisers and underwriters; however, other industry professionals may also benefit from attending, the FHA announced.
The Aug. 12 and 15 sessions (8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Eastern Time) will be conducted at the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development’s Atlanta Homeownership Center. The Aug. 14 session (8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Time) will be held at the Hurst Conference Center, Hurst, Texas.
The Aug. 12 and 15 free on-site training sessions will cover various industry-related frequently asked questions (FAQs) related to FHA’s Single Family Housing Policy Handbook 4000.1. Discussion topics include policy changes and clarifications, and updates on topics such as: property acceptability criteria; underwriting the appraisal; minimum property requirements; property defects; enhanced appraisals and underwriter responsibilities and requirements; programs and products (e.g., 203(k)); and much more.
The Aug. 14 session will cover FHA appraisal requirements, including FHA appraisal protocol and updates to FHA appraisal policy as outlined in FHA’s Single Family Housing Policy Handbook 4000.1. This training also takes an in-depth look at a variety of appraisal-related topics including: property acceptability criteria; minimum property requirements; property defects; appraiser responsibilities and requirements; and, much more.
Advance registration is required by Aug. 9, for the Aug. 12 and 15 sessions, seating is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Lunch is on your own. For the Aug. 14 training session, advanced registration is required by Aug. 7.
