California appraiser recalls ‘haunting’ assignments

On this Halloween day, we discover that some appraisers have had their share of “scary” encounters as they found themselves appraising homes that could send more than a few chills down one’s spine.
Valuation Review caught up with Randall Bell, of the California-based Landmark Research Group, who shared some experiences with us. Known as the “Master of Disaster” for valuing distressed properties, Bell has appraised a lot of macabre sites, including the Heaven’s Gate mansion, the Simpson crime scene property, and many others.
