Brady & Kosofsky, PA, a Charlotte based law firm providing local solutions to the national mortgage origination, closing and title insurance industry, has successfully completed (as of June 2016) its annual Service Organization Controls 2 (SOC 2) examination under AT Section 101 Type 2, Attest Engagements (AICPA, Professional Standards) The examination and audit was performed by the independent CPA firm of Kushner, Smith, Joanou & Gregson, LLP of California.
The successful completion of the voluntary audit demonstrates Brady & Kosofsky’s ongoing commitment to creating and maintaining the most stringent controls for the protection and security of its customer’s confidential information and for the availability of its non-public personal information according to the announcement. This year’s audit included a specific focus on its vendor management program.
A SOC 2 examination is performed in accordance with AT Section 101, Attest Engagements (AICPA, Professional Standards). SOC 2 is designated as an acceptable method for a user entity’s management to obtain assurance about service organization internal controls over security, availability and confidentiality without conducting additional assessments.
A SOC 2 examination is widely recognized, because it represents that a service organization has been through an evaluation of their control activities as they relate to the applicable Trust Services Principles and Criteria.
“Our customers are focused on security and confidentiality when handling their sensitive data” Brady & Kosofsky founding partner Jaime Kosofsky said. “By achieving SOC 2 compliance for a second straight year, we have done two important things: First we have demonstrated that the design of our vendor management protocol and other processes are effective and second, we have proven its effectiveness through extensive, independent testing and results. This is yet another way in which Brady & Kosofsky, PA has exceeded the generally accepted industry best practices and is leading our industry. We are very proud as an organization to have achieved this important certification.”
