Title companies, banks and attorneys are now submitting documents electronically in Citrus and Hernando Counties in Florida, along with Ventura County, Calif.
Instead of sending documents by express mail, courier service or driving to the courthouse, customers can now submit documents from their computer using Simplifile’s online recording service, cutting down the wait time from several days or weeks down to minutes for documents to be put on record.
“E-recording is quick, efficient and easy to do. It reduces the gap immensely, which makes our title insurance underwriters very happy,” said Dan Holback, licensed title agent with Southeast Title. “We are proud to be the first submitter in the nation to e-record a document with the Hernando County Clerk of Court.”
E-recorded documents also help to cut down on overall paper waste and mailing costs for both the county and its customers. Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely via e-recording using Automated Clearing House, or electronic funds transfer, eliminating the need to write and mail checks to the county and reducing payment errors that delay recording.
“We are excited to have Ventura County as part of our e-recording network, providing not only local, but national document submitters with a much more cost-effective, convenient online recording option,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile.
