Stewart Title announced today that Orlando Lucero was named to the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), an organization of U.S. real estate lawyers. ACREL seeks to promote high standards and ethics for real estate lawyers, as well as improve and reform real estate practice. Admission is by invitation only after a rigorous screening process.
“Orlando has proven himself to be an indispensable member of the Stewart Title legal team and the legal community at large,” said John Rothermel, senior vice president, southwest states underwriting counsel. “Acceptance to ACREL further substantiates his significant legal knowledge and ability, and the high standards of professional and ethical conduct he practices in real estate law each and every day. ACREL represents areas of real estate law including real estate transactions, disputes in real estate contracts, issues of ownership and tenancy, insurance issues, bankruptcy issues and land use. Lucero will participate as a committee member for the public policy forum, publications and title insurance boards. His areas of expertise include residential financing, foreclosure/enforcement/workouts, single family housing, and title insurance.
Lucero has worked in real estate services for more than 30 years, including 20 years as a partner and manager in several law firms in Albuquerque. In addition, he has been an active member of the American Bar Association for more than 25 years, where he currently serves on the Board of Governors. Lucero has chaired several local boards, including the New Mexico Chapter of NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association, The Museum of Natural History Foundation and All Faiths Receiving Home. Currently he serves as the Secretary of the New Mexico Land Title Association.
