Simplifile has added nine county recording offices in the Southeast and 14 in the Midwest to its eRecording network. The new counties are in Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
“Simplifile’s eRecording service connects settlement agents and counties so both sides can work more efficiently and cost-effectively; it’s a win-win,” Simplifile President Paul Clifford said in a press release. “We’re delighted to see more counties in the Southeast and Midwest embrace a faster, safer, and easier eRecording process.”
The new counties are: Clinch County, Elbert County, Hart County, Miller County, and Troup County in Georgia; Hardee County in Florida; Bureau County, Crawford County, Jackson County, Jo Daviess County, and Shelby County in Illinois; Iron County in Michigan; Barry County, Clark County, Jasper County, Washington County, and Wright County in Missouri; Beaufort County in North Carolina; Harlan County in Nebraska; Summit County in Ohio; McMinn County and Morgan County in Tennessee and Rusk County in Wisconsin.
Settlement agents in these jurisdictions now can scan and submit documents directly to the county recording office using Simplifile’s secure, web-based e-recording service. In minutes, the county recorder can review, stamp, record, and return documents to the settlement agent using the same electronic system. Settlement agents also can pay recording fees and associated payments securely through the Simplifile service, reducing payment errors and eliminating check-writing costs.
More than 1,474 county recording offices throughout the United States now record deeds, mortgages, and other documents electronically using Simplifile.
