Cook County, Ill., the second-largest U.S. county, officially recorded its first electronic deed from Chicago Title using Simplifile. Chicago Title Insurance Co. in Carol Stream submitted the deed to Cook County online using Simplifile’s web-based service.
“The implementation of electronic deed recording in Cook County will provide tremendous efficiencies and timeline improvements for the entire real estate industry,” Chicago Title Assistant Vice President and Manager Katherine Smith said. “Chicago Title is excited to work with Simplifile and the Cook County Recorder of Deeds on the testing and implementation of this project and we look forward to utilizing this enhancement to continue to provide excellent service to our customers.”
Cook County, with an estimated 5.2 million residents, began eRecording with Simplifile in 2012. Now, with the first deed successfully eRecorded, the county has commenced its piloting phase and will begin accepting deeds from all submitters in the near future.

There are currently 21 Illinois counties eRecording with Simplifile.
