Westcor Land Title Insurance Co. has added Scott Gallinghouse as an underwriting counsel in Louisiana as part of its South Central States region.
“Scott Gallinghouse is a tremendous addition to our Louisiana team,” Angela Fling, South Central States regional agency manager, said in a release. “His contributions in providing best-in-class customer service combined with his extensive underwriting experience will knock the socks off our independent agent network. I am elated at his decision to work with our company to continue to build our momentum in Louisiana.”
Gallinghouse has more than 30 years of underwriting experience in the real estate and title insurance industry. As a graduate of Louisiana State University Law School, he began his career in private practice, specializing in real property litigation, title examination, successions, and title insurance. He later joined the law department of Amoco Production Co., where he was appointed head of onshore title development in Louisiana.
Following his time at Amoco, Gallinghouse returned to private practice, specializing in mineral title examination for the Louisiana office of a Texas-based regional law firm.
“I have enthusiastically joined Westcor as an underwriting counsel, in large part because this company and its approach to its agents fully aligns with my underwriting philosophy, which I have strived to develop over a period of 30 years in the industry,” Gallinghouse said. “Simply put, Westcor is single-minded in its dedication to deliver the best service in the industry to its agents in an atmosphere of partnership — an atmosphere aimed at creating confidence, trust, loyalty, and real friendships. Westcor serves its agents — its agents will never be expected to serve Westcor.”
Gallinghouse joined Westcor following his retirement from First American Title Insurance Co. in December 2022. He began with First American’s Louisiana office in December 1992 as an underwriting counsel. Later in his career with the company, he functioned as Louisiana state counsel and performed duties of senior underwriting counsel.
In 2022, Gallinghouse received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Louisiana Land Title Association for his years of outstanding service in the industry.
