Rutherford County, Tenn., is now electronically recording documents with Simplifile, an e-recording service provider. This will allow the county’s recording customers the ability to submit documents online for faster, more convenient recording.
“Rutherford County is excited about e-recording with Simplifile and the benefits to our clients,” said Rutherford County Register of Deeds Heather Dawbarn. “There are so many efficiencies and cost savings both to the client as well as Rutherford County. With our first week behind us now it is obvious that the decision has been well received.”
Instead of waiting several days or weeks for documents to be stamped, recorded and returned from the register of deeds’ office, customers including title companies, banks and other organizations that e-record can have their documents recorded in minutes.
“We want to thank Simplifile for supporting our goal to achieve e-recording in Rutherford County,” Dawburn said.
With Simplifile’s service available, customers no longer have to rely on the mail or travel to the courthouse to have documents recorded. E-recording also helps to reduce rejected documents and payment errors, as recording fees are processed securely through Simplifile using Automated Clearing House.
According to Dawburn, many customers have requested that the county include e-recording of plats, and after researching the possibilities, she hopes to make them available within the year.
