New Jersey added its newest electronic recording jurisdiction, Hunterdon County, providing customers with an easy to use, online document recording service called Simplifile. Title companies, real estate lawyers and banks, will now be able to submit documents electronically to the clerkâs office for recording.
âWe wanted to be able to join with other county clerks throughout the state that are currently providing a convenient, efficient and paperless means of recording,â said Hunterdon County Clerk Mary Melfi. âE-recording is better for the environment, faster and there is less chance for error.â
Customers can also securely send payments to the county to cover recording fees electronically through Simplifileâs system using Automated Clearing House, eliminating the need to send checks through the mail.
âWe currently offer e-recording for mortgages but are hoping to expand our services very soon to include assignments, discharges, releases, lis pendens, notice of settlements and UCCs,â Melfi said.
âWeâre excited to be working with the Hunterdon County Clerkâs office and to continue growing e-recording on the East Coast,â said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. âItâs the fastest, most reliable way to record documents today.â
